THE ART EXHIBITION WILL BE OPEN FROM 6:30pm on the Opening Night.
A unique celebration of creativity, diversity, and artistry awaits as the By/Design Collective, an inclusive and dynamic community of artists, presents a vibrant group exhibition at the Glass Pencil Art Gallery, Stockley Park. The exhibition will run from 7th to 10th November 2024, showcasing the eclectic works of the collective’s finest talents.
The By/Design Collective is more than an art group; it is a creative community brought together not by chance, but by a shared vision to elevate diverse voices and distinct artistic styles. From experimental mixed media to eco-conscious mosaic creations, the collective thrives on collaboration and the individual expression of each artist.
Explore the art of Shalini Bharadwaj, a self-proclaimed “Creative Experimentalist” who embraces the unpredictability of her process. Her mixed media works, ranging from painting to digital design and jewellery, embody the freedom of artistic exploration. Shalini’s work stems from childhood nostalgia. Having spent her childhood in India, she explores memories of people, places, objects and travel in her work.
Dive into the striking world of Christian Azolan, a mixed-media visual artist and illustrator whose fine art includes photography, painting, and digital gilding. With an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, Christian's most celebrated series, The Birds, explores themes of freedom and fantasy against the challenges of our global times. His iconic Golden Flock print, recreated as a 23ct gold screenprint, symbolises unity and collective action.
Riecha Kapoor invites viewers to explore the tactile beauty of nature through her hand-crafted ceramics. Drawing inspiration from organic forms, Riecha’s pieces are a harmonious blend of wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques. Her intricate surface decorations make each piece an homage to the natural world.
Finally, meet Francesca Busca, an eco-artivist and mosaicist whose work turns waste into "trashure." As a self-described “rubbish artist,” Francesca's pieces are a bold commentary on humanity’s disposable lifestyle. Each of her sustainable artworks, made entirely from waste materials, challenges viewers to rethink their relationship with consumption, waste, and beauty.
The By/Design Collective exhibition offers an immersive experience where individuality shines, and collaboration flourishes. Visitors can expect a journey through different artistic mediums, all united by a shared commitment to exceptional design and aesthetic integrity.
